Abbreviated as: ch
The chain stitch (ch) is used in most crochet patterns, often as a way of beginning a project. Chains can be used to form the first row of a project, known as a foundation row of chains, which you will then work into, up and out of.
Also chains are used at the beginning of rows, as a way of building up so you can then work down into the stitches of the previous row. It's an essential stitch to know, so take a look at the video below as we show you how to make a chain stitch.
